Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to Inaugurate India Energy Forum by CERAWeek
Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate annual India Energy Forum by CERAWeek, which gathers energy leaders to enhance important dialogue on the nation’s new energy future. It will be schedule on October 26-28, by IHS Markit.
- Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, US Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette, Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) secretary-general Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo and Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud will also participate in this event.
- India Energy Forum by CERAWeek, now in its fourth year, is hosted by IHS Markit, a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions.
Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launches Ayushman Sahakar scheme for co-operative healthcare facilities
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar launched Ayushman Sahakar scheme, to encourage cooperatives play an important role in creation of healthcare infrastructure in the country. The Scheme was developed by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
- AYUSHMAN SAHAKAR scheme has been formulated by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
- NCDC would extend term loans to prospective cooperatives to the tune of 10 thousand crore in the upcoming years.
- NCDC’s scheme will be a step towards strengthening farmers welfare activities by the Central Government.
Country’s First Sustainable Municipal Solid Waste Processing Facility developed by CSIR-CMERI
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) which is a public engineering research and development institution developed Sustainable Municipal Solid Waste Processing Facility to preserve a cleaner environment and to safeguard contamination of soil, air and water.
- This Facility uses the plasma arc for solid waste disposal that converts wastes into plasma state.
- The facility includes segregating wastes such as masks, diapers, sanitary napkins, etc.
- It also comprises disinfection capabilities that can break COVID-19 chain through Ultra Violet C radiation and by adopting hot-air convection methods.

India and Netherland Collaborated in E-Health Sector to give digital health facilities and security to Indians and help Netherlands to accelerate the digital transformation of health. This partnership is part of National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) which aims to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country.

First-ever SCO Startup Forum – India to host SCO Heads of Government meeting
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) (also known Shanghai Pact) Heads of Government meeting will be hosted by India on 30th November 2020. The maiden SCO Startup Forum will be initiated on 27th October 2020 ahead of the SCO trade ministers meeting on 28th October.
- The forum will lay the foundation for multilateral cooperation and engagement among the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Member States to develop and hone their startup ecosystems, collectively.

SLINEX-20 – India & Sri Lanka 8th annual joint exercise begins
The eighth annual joint bilateral maritime exercise between India and Sri Lanka navies – SLINEX-20 begins in Trincomalee coast. It is a 3 day exercise that is started on October 19, 2020 and it will end on October 21, 2020. In 2019, SLINEX was conducted off Visakhapatnam in September 2019.
- The Sri Lanka Navy is represented by SLN Ships Sayura (Offshore Patrol Vessel) and Gajabahu(Training Ship) led by Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilaka, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Sri Lanka Navy.
- Indian navy is represented by indigenously built ASW corvettes Kamorta and Kiltan under the command of Rear Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet.

BrahMos Missile – World’s Fastest Supersonic Cruise Missile successfully test-fired by India
The Naval version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired from INS Chennai in the Arabian Sea. It was jointly established by Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) and NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM) of Russia. It is the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world.
- The missile has a top speed of Mach 2.8 which is nearly three times the speed of sound.
- The missile was fired from INS Chennai which is a stealth destroyer.
- The missile hit the target with high accuracy after performing “extremely complex” manoeuvres.

India successfully tested Prithvi-2 missile in Odisha
India successfully tested Nuclear-capable Prithvi-2 missile on 16 October 2020 from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur near Balasore, off Odisha coast. It is a surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- This is India’s first indigenous surface-to-surface strategic missile.
- This missile was developed by DRDO under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme.
- The 9-metre tall liquid-propelled Prithvi-2 has a range of 250 km and can carry a 1 tonne warhead.

Denmark Open 2020 Concludes, Nozomi Okuhara beat three-time world champion Carolina Marin
The Denmark Open, or formerly known as Danish Open, is an annual badminton tournament held in Denmark and organized by Danmarks Badminton Forbund. In the men’s singles final, Anders Antonsen of Denmark defeated Rasmus Gemke. In Women’s Singles Nozomi Okuhara beat three-time world champion Carolina Marin.

Mohun Bagan won I-League 2019/20 trophy
Mohun Bagan clinched the 2019-20 I-League title. Indian footballer Dhanachandra Singh along with a couple of other players, received the trophy from AIFF Leagues CEO Sunando Dhar in the presence of state sports minister Aroop Biswas.
- Mohun Bagan, is a major Indian multi-sport club based in the Kolkata, India. Mohun Bagan had won the title with four matches to spare back in March, the trophy presentation had been delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus situation.

Noted Bengali Vocal Artiste Pradip Ghosh dies
Noted Bengali elocutionist Pradip Ghosh passed away. He was a known name in cultural programmes arranged by the expatriate Bengalis in the USA, Australia and the UK.
- Ghosh, known for his inimitable style, had to his credit scores of CDs and cassettes.
