International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is celebrated annually on November 25.
The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence.
On this day various campaigns and events are organized around the globe to create awareness and educate people to eliminate violence against women.
The United Nations General Assembly convened on 17 December 1999 and designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
