  • International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is celebrated annually on November 25.
  • The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence.
  • On this day various campaigns and events are organized around the globe to create awareness and educate people to eliminate violence against women.
  • The United Nations General Assembly convened on 17 December 1999  and designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
